A true renaissance man is how Chairman David Martin describes Alfred S. Regnery. The LELDF is fortunate to have a Board member with the extraordinary background and abilities of Mr. Regnery.

Mr. Regnery is President of Regnery Publishing Inc. and a practicing attorney with the law firm of Keller & Heckman in Washington, D. C. He served in the Department of Justice from 1981 to 1986 as Deputy Assistant Attorney General and as Administrator of the Office of Juvenile Justice & Delinquency Prevention. In that position Mr. Regnery started some crucial programs for law enforcement, including the very important National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. He also initiated a chronic offender program that encourages prosecutors, police departments, judges and corrections officials to focus on chronic offenders who commit serious crimes.
In addition to publishing several best-selling books (Murder in Brentwood by Mark Fuhrmann, Presumed Guilty, by Stacey Koon, and Unlimited Access by Gary Aldrich), Mr. Regnery has authored several periodical articles that have been published in The Washington Post, The New York Times, National Review, and Policy Review, among others.

Mr. Regnery serves on the boards of several non-profit organizations, and is Chairman of the Foundation for American Studies, a grant-making organization. He serves as the Treasurer of the LELDF.

Mr. Regnery is also an accomplished musician (violin, viola), an expert woodcrafter and cabinet maker, and a rugged outdoorsman who enjoys hiking and skiing.

He has four children.
