Timing of Statement
Some jurisdictions and union agreements provide a “cooling-off period” from the time of the incident to the making of a formal statement which can be measured in hours to days.
Others jurisdictions require statements upon request.
Initial statements, later amended, or incomplete may give rise to a challenge to your credibility. If your credibility is challenged and the court rules against you then you may be prevented from testifying in subsequent cases.
